DOVECOTE PARTY 2026

The 4th edition of the “Dovecote Party” will take place on 3 and 4 July 2026 in the village of Uva, in the municipality of Vimioso, in the district of Bragança. The festival programme includes interpretive trails and guided tours, with a focus on the dovecotes, theatre, children’s workshops, musical performances, storytelling, a traditional market, crafts and local cuisine, and much more!

The festival is organised by the Union of Parishes of Algoso, Campo de Víboras and Uva and by Palombar – Conservation of Nature and Rural Heritage, in collaboration with the Municipality of Vimioso and with the support of the Uva Party Committee 2026/2027.

The village of dovecotes

Uva boasts a unique architectural heritage in the North-East of Trás-os-Montes, with over 40 dovecotes – structures of vernacular architecture deeply rooted in the community, culture and nature conservation, most of which are located within the village boundaries. This is a festival with an innovative concept, created to promote the region and its most authentic and unique features, offering a creative, cultural and diverse alternative to the summer festivals held in the area. Through collective action, Palombar has already managed to restore all of Uva’s dovecotes that were in a state of partial ruin – a historic achievement!

The festival’s name is inspired by these iconic buildings of the region, a unique legacy that we wish to showcase through this event, which focuses on revitalising the rural world and promoting its architectural, natural, cultural and social heritage.

Join us for this unique festival!

“ContoContigo: The Naked Angels” | 9.00 pm–9.45 pm
Peripécia Teatro

Age rating: 12+

“ContoContigo” is a theatre project by Peripécia Teatro that involves creating performances based on short stories by authors from the Trás-os-Montes region and the Upper Douro. In 2026, the challenge is to explore the work of António Manuel Pires Cabral, a native of Macedo de Cavaleiros, with the short story “Os Anjos Nus”.

Baltasar and Belmira are story collectors. They wander from village to village as if going nowhere, listening to what lies by the wayside: stories someone has written, conversations left unfinished, thoughts with no owner. They do not keep them to themselves: they tell them. Because stories only live when they travel from mouth to ear.

This time, they bring a strange tale. Not supernatural, just strange. In a small village church, zeal for purity was taken too seriously and faith ended up being sawed away. Between devotion, fear and the need to bring order to the world, a character decides to protect the sacred and ends up revealing the human.

“Naked Angels” is a tale about belief, excessive certainty and the temptation to improve upon what already existed. Belmira and Baltasar neither judge nor explain: they simply tell the story. The rest happens to those who listen.
