68th IVWC FOR RURAL BUILT HERITAGE
The 68th International Volunteer Work Camp (IVWC) “For Rural Built Heritage” will take place from 3 to 17 August in Uva, Vimioso. Organised by Palombar – Nature and Rural Heritage Conservation, the camp will focus on the restoration and maintenance of local architectural structures that have shaped history and continue to play a vital role in the community’s daily life.
This International Volunteer Work Camp is being held as part of the NatuRural Heritage III project, funded by the European Union’s European Solidarity Corps, and is supported by the Municipality of Vimioso, the Union of Parishes of Algoso, Campo de Víboras and Uva, and the Rempart Association (France).
Living heritage
An old smithy, dry-stone walls, traditional dovecotes and the old primary school are some of the features we will be preserving during this work camp, through collective action… not only the structures themselves, but also the ancestral techniques and local materials that gave them form, function and meaning, in harmony with the landscape.
Authentic territory: discovering and valuing
The opportunity to discover the region and its cultural, social, landscape and human context, which this CTVI programme offers, makes this experience all the more enriching. Through guided walks and opportunities to interact with local communities, we promote an appreciation of local authenticity and memorable experiences in a region where the old and the new intersect and complement one another in their diversity.

DAILY SCHEDULE
WORK
7.00 am – 12.30 pm
Restoration and maintenance of rural heritage features: dry-stone walls, an old smithy, a former primary school, maintenance of traditional dovecotes and other structures requiring minor repairs. The work will always be supervised by specialists and technicians in the field.
LEISURE
14:30 – 17:00 (at least three days a week)
Guided tours around the area and activities with the local community.
Activities will always be led by a guide from Palombar.
