Drop-saver Tour
"For a drop - Drop-saver tour" is a project by Palombar funded by the Environmental Fund, approved in October 2022, and will be implemented on the ground in 2023.

The main objectives of this project are:
  • To raise awareness in the community about the importance of consuming tap water and other sustainable sources that favour waste reduction, with a focus on efficient use;
  • To alert people to the potential conflicts and risks associated with water scarcity in the territory;
  • To inform about the vital role of water for life on Earth and as a central element for nature conservation in Natura 2000 Network territories.

It will be implemented in the field using a mobile van, called the ‘Tour Poupa-Gotas’ (Save-Drops Tour), which will travel through areas in the northern interior of Portugal, namely the borderlands of Alto Minho (municipalities of Melgaço, Terras de Bouro and Arcos de Valdevez) and Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (municipalities of Vinhais, Bragança, Mogadouro, Vimioso and Miranda do Douro).

The van, equipped with informative, educational and didactic material, such as games and educational activities, will promote environmental education spaces in the context of the territory, with actions aimed mainly at the school community, but also at the community in general.

This is a continuation and extension of the project Por uma gota – pelo uso eficiente da água (For a drop – for the efficient use of water), approved in 2018 and financed by the Environmental Fund, promoted by Palombar and AEPGA - Associação para o Estudo e Proteção do Gado Asinino (Association for the Study and Protection of Donkeys), through the SACR Consortium - Sensibilização Ativa da Comunidade Rural (Active Awareness of the Rural Community).
