NatuRural Heritage

The NatuRural Heritage project, funded by the European Union (EU) European Solidarity Corps (ESC), has as its main objective to promote the restoration and conservation of the rural and natural heritage of villages in the Northeast of Trás-os-Montes. It was approved in May 2023 and will be implemented during 2024.
The project focuses on organising international volunteer work camps to promote the restoration of vernacular architecture associated with rural communities and nature conservation, as well as promoting archaeological surveys with the aim of contributing to the research and discovery of local ancestral material heritage. The project is being developed with the support of several institutional and local partners and the French Association Rempart.
In addition, this project aims to promote the revitalisation of rural areas, the discovery of the territory and its natural, heritage, cultural and human wealth, as well as the intergenerational sharing of experiences and knowledge.
The project's activities will take place in the Trás-os-Montes villages of Uva, in the municipality of Vimioso, and Picote, in the municipality of Miranda do Douro, and include three international volunteer work camps:
